Social Media Contract Questions

I am so very green to this influencer business (only a micro influencer), and I got a contract from what appears to be a reputable brand and agency, and I feel a little taken advantage of because the contact terms or not even meeting my rates from my rate sheet.

A couple of things Claude flagged (I can't afford a lawyer so please don't judge):

  • Publication deadline is TBD -- don't sign until that's filled in. A blank deadline is a gap that could be used to pressure you later.
  • $350 for TikTok + Instagram -- that's one piece of content across two platforms. Depending on your rate, that may be on the lower end. Worth knowing your floor before you sign.
  • "Full" usage rights with no end date -- Section 4 grants them unlimited paid advertising rights forever, across all platforms. That's a big ask. Many creators negotiate a time limit (1-2 years is common) or a paid ads usage fee on top of the base rate.
  • No removal ever -- Section 5 means you can never delete this post. If [BRAND] becomes controversial or the content ages badly, you're stuck with it on your feed.
  • Confidentiality clause -- you can't publicly disclose what you were paid. Normal, but worth knowing.

Thoughts?? I feel very overwhelmed!
