Stargazing with pune redditors

Yesterday we went to a stargazing night near Torna Fort with a bunch of Redditors and honestly it turned out way better than expected .

Initially everyone thought we’ll just chill, look at planets and stars through telescopes and click some photos… but the whole night became one long interesting discussion about space, astronomy and random cosmic stuff.

We ended up talking about how calendars were made using celestial movements, stars, galaxies, constellations, nakshatras, planets and even why a week has exactly 7 days.

Some other things we discussed:

How ancient people used stars for navigation

Difference between meteors, asteroids and comets

How light years work

Why some stars look brighter than others

How eclipses happen

And many more random 2am space talks.

The best part? The campsite had fireflies too. Seeing stars above and fireflies around at the same time felt unreal… proper cherry on top of the experience 🫶

Anyone Interested in Monsoon Treks around pune ?

A few of us have been thinking of building a small community around weekend plans and shared experiences. Nothing commercial or profit oriented, just people who enjoy getting out once in a while and doing something different.

The idea is simple — treks, camping, stargazing, meteor showers, random food rides, art meetups, or even just sitting somewhere peaceful with good company.

We recently started planning stargazing and fireflies weekends.

Everything is planned transparently. Travel, stay, food etc. are divided among whoever joins, no hidden costs or weird organizer fees.

Still very new, but if this kind of thing interests you and you’d like to be part of building something wholesome around Pune ,you’re welcome to join us once and see how it goes :)

Any Trek Lovers Here?

A few of us from Reddit are planning monsoon treks around the Sahyadris this season — Aadrai, Andharban, Harishchandragad, Rajgad, Torna, Sudhagad, Sarasgad, Mrugagad etc.

Thought it would be nice to make a small community for people who genuinely enjoy trekking, travelling, photography, camping, chai after treks, and meeting like minded folks from Pune.
