Advice for travel in August-sep
Hi everyone! I’m planning an 8–9 day solo trip to Sri Lanka around the end of August to the first week of September, flying from Delhi.
I was initially hoping for a slower, beachy itinerary- places like Ahangama, Mirissa, Weligama, maybe Hiriketiya- but I’ve heard the south/west coast can be quite rainy and rough around this time because of the monsoon.
For people who have travelled there during this period: is it still worth doing the south coast, or would it be better to focus on the east coast / Kandy / Ella / Sigiriya instead?
I’m not looking for a packed sightseeing trip; I’d love a mix of scenic places, cafés, beaches, some solo-friendly social vibe and enough downtime. Would really appreciate suggestions for the best areas to cover in 8–9 days, realistic weather expectations, and whether Ahangama/Mirissa are still enjoyable at that time.
Thanks!
