I’ve done it! One of my children loves punk music

I’m a very lucky dad of 5 incredible children between the ages of 2 and 15. I’ve been a huge fan of punk music my whole life. Pop punk, ska, etc too.

Not one of my children likes my taste in music, and it’s always made me sad in a way that we can’t share in something so universal like a musical taste. That is until I heard my four year old daughter last week ask Alexa to play Dead Kennedy’s. I honestly couldn’t believe it!

California Über Alles starts blaring and she starts bopping and singing along! The smile hasn’t left my face all week! She’s been listening to NOFX and Less Than Jake this morning now. She even told her mum “cause of you, Punks dead” (a line from Punks Dead by Soft Play). Shes asking about different bands and songs she might like so I’m making a playlist.

I’ve never pushed my music onto them, so for her to love it and to see it make her happy has left me reeling.

Has anyone else had a moment like this where one of your kids picks up a passion of yours that you can share in?

First ever model loco - Advice needed

Yesterday I was gifted my first ever model for my birthday! I’m 37 now, and although I’ve admired them for most of my life, I could never justify the costs. I’m absolutely over the moon! My dream is to have my own model railway one day, but until then, I’ll just enjoy looking at all your incredible work!

For now, I want to display it on a single piece of track or in a display box. However, it’s come with a LOT of accessories, and I was hoping some of you could tell me what I should fit for static purposes.

Also, it’s OO.

What a weird way to wish someone a happy birthday…

I asked “Do you know what day it is today?” to test what it knows. It threw out a “Happy 36th Birthday”. I had to correct it, and then it went dark.

This has been a common thing recently. It throws out random things mid conversation. Some of the things are weirdly dark.

Does this happen to anyone else?
