Hey y'all,

I'm a southern European young man (27M) relocating soon to Texas. I will be going for a WFH job so I could choose any state to live in, however, I already lived near San Antonio a while ago (I was a teenager) and the Lone Star state is my first and only choice in the list.

I would like to ask you for any suggestions on where I should move. These are my 3 main decision points:

1. I would like to get an apartment/house on the max. $1200/month range.

2. I want to live close to an airport with good national connections, as I will need to frequently travel within the US for work.

3. Since I am young, I want to live somewhere I could do activities and meet other people my age. I am quite a sociable person and enjoy outdoor activities - I go clubbing every so often but I'm not a night owl.

Apart from this, what's the average daily life of a Texan? How easy will it be for me to integrate with local folks?

I have been living in The Netherlands for almost 4 years, and I will be moving to the US under an L-1B visa in like 2-3 months.

Almost all my net worth consists of ETFs and funds (some of them are American, some others are EU-based), which I hold in a Trade Republic brokerage account.

My question is, since I plan to be in the US for the whole period of my visa (3-5 years and possibly longer if I ever adjust my immigration status), what should I do with my investments in Europe? Should I sell everything and buy again while in the US, or is this technically (and financially) a bad decision? I would appreciate any comment on this matter.

Genuinely asking this, looking at the recent posts in this sub it looks like a crazy amount of people are getting approved now.
