Challenges with neighbor boy
My daughter (7) and a neighbor boy (7) have been friends for 2 years. He comes over a few times a week, but the last few months they’ve been arguing more and he’s hit her a few times and said some inappropriate things.
I tried steering her into other friendships which led me to inviting her classmate (7y boy) over who they were great friends at school. Neighbor boy saw and included himself and now the 2 boys always want to play together and my daughter was feeling left out so I started inviting classmate over when the neighbor boy was gone (and then he just asks for neighbor boy)
Recently the neighbor’s family invited that boy over, except the boys came to our house (we’re the fun hangout house I guess) and my kid really wanted to play so I allowed it. When I was tired of monitoring the neighbor’s wild behavior I sent them back to his house.
Neighbor told my kiddo that I said she couldn’t go with, which was untrue. She chased after them and they told her they didn’t want to play with her and were quite rude. She came home crying.
I’m unsure if I just stop letting these boys come over or what to do. They play well one on one, but we’ve had other issues with neighbor boy in the past and I feel like he’s coming to play at our house and not actually with my daughter. Advice please!
