Propagating

My mother in law has an aloe plant that she gave me two cuttings of to propagate and the whole plant is mushy, not technically so mushy it just flattens just not how an aloe should feel.. can I still propagate them? And why is her aloe so mushy? Can it be caused by over watering?

Tips on extra clutter?

It’s a 4x2x2 enclosure, any tips on specific things and were to get them? Was looking into maybe some climbing spaces but mostly want more clutter.
