Got a 120 gallon tank for my birthday

Got a 120 gallon tank for my birthday

I got this new tank for my ball python, any tips to help fill the space. Or any creative ideas I could do to maximize this tank. Was thinking about drilling in a platform to create a “second story”

We had a vet visit today 🥲

I got this girl a few weeks ago and she came with mites and severe stuck eye caps. After a few weeks of attempting home care I decided to take her to the vet. She is currently in a quarantine tank on paper towels with two hides, and a water bowl. I gave her a paper towel card board tube for a little bit of enrichment today that I will take out tomorrow. She was prescribed Ivermectin treatment and some eye lube and is projected to be better in about 4 weeks. She has several mites that are fairly embedded in her scales and a rash so I assume she is quite uncomfortable, along with the eye caps. I feel so bad for her 😭💔

After doing the Ivermectin treatment today she has been non stop glass surfing. Everything in the enclosure is properly set up, temps are good and humidity. Is it safe to assume she is just extremely uncomfortable? Is there anything I can do to make this easier for her?

I think today was probably also very stressful we had a 3 hour car trip for just getting to the vet and then did the treatment when we got home. 😅

Finally got bit

I wanted to see if he wanted to come hang out with me. I knew from his body language that he would probably strike (fed him 2 days ago) but I pushed the limit because I wasn’t sure, but now I will not doubt him next time lmaoo and I will wait at least 72hrs after a feed
When he’s not in a feeding frenzy he’s a very docile and curious creature and doesn’t mind being handled. I’ve never even seen him ball up except when he’s in his hide.
Photo of him with his favorite hide (paper towel roll)

Built them some new enclosures and figured I’d post it here. Also, Meet the danger noodles!

Photo doesn’t show the keyless showcase locks I have on them now, but the came out okay for a budget project.
And before anyone gives me shit over the one morph, she was a rescue. Sweet girl too

Rescued this cute lil guy today

Rescued this guy who was abandoned on 5/5 he was found yesterday by my friend who runs a property managment company! I’m gonna replace the bedding later today when i get paid and get him a bigger water bowl and was generally wondering what all else I’ll need for him! My bestfriend has snakes so she’s been helping me out too! we fed him this morning since it was probably a while since he ate and boy was he hungry he ate the rat within an hour of placing it in his enclosure! Oh and I named him Trousers!!! He’s very friendly let me handle him a little bit before feeding!

Just got a Noddle yesterday, how am I doing?

Just got my first ball python and spent the last couple days upgrading the enclosure to make it more comfortable and stable for him. The tank now has a dual heat setup with a 50w amber basking bulb on a day/night cycle and a 100w ceramic heat emitter connected to a thermostat. I also covered most of the mesh top to help hold humidity.

The enclosure has matching hides on both the warm and cool side, plus added foliage, climbing bridges, branches, and extra clutter so he feels more secure moving around. Current temps are about 88°F on the warm side and 80–82°F on the cool side with humidity around 70%.

He was pretty balled up and inactive at first which had me worried, but he’s now spending most of his time tucked into one of the hides instead of out in the open, which I’m hoping means he’s settling in. Still new to keeping ball pythons so I’d appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Especially for feeding

Thoughts on DIY climbing branches from outdoors?

Hi guys! Just wondering what the general opinion is on using branches collected from outside... I'm hoping to add a few climbing branches in once I upgrade to a taller enclosure, and I read about a few methods of making branches safe but just wondering if it's even a good idea to begin with as I'd love to save some money with some DIY if possible.
The methods I read included sanding them down and then either putting them in the oven or in a bleach soak to sanitize them, however I'm still skeptical about it (worried it could bring in something unhealthy) and wondering if anyone could share their experiences if they've done so!

WTF is she doing???

I've had my BP for about a month and a half now and she's my baby, and I was looking through my camera footage when I came across this clip (from about an hour ago) of her convulsing and making this really strange noise??? Is this cause for concern?? I've never seen her do this.

I hope she's not regurgitating or anything... last time I fed her was about a week ago and her warm hide usually stays around 90 and her cold hide is 75

New Owner, Need Some Help

Hello all, I've just got my ball python around a week ago. Never had a pet like this before. His tank is set up real nice and has proper temp and humidity in both his hides.

I just had a few questions however and I'd feel better talking to other owners than looking something up on the interwebs.

So, he's a juvenile still, like I said just got him about a week ago. He's been exploring his enclosure and hiding in his areas, but yesterday and today he's been in his water bowl pretty much all day while I'm at work. Then once I get home he moves around and doesn't just sit in the water bowl. More active at night of course. I've seen on other posts that sometimes they just like to do that a lot. I don't see any signs of mites and his temps and humidity are WNL. Should I really be worried about anything so early on? Could he be preparing for shed?

Any other tips for a new owner would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks guys

Shed help

I just got this pretty little baby female. She’s a super banana moochie pin. My question is about shedding, any easy to notice hints of when she’s going to be going into shed? I have one eye and it doesn’t work the greatest with colors so it’s hard for me to tell when they get “dull” looking. I know my BEL gets a pinkish tummy but will this happen with the new baby? Her name is Hachi also.

Moving with Snake- any recommendations?

Hi guys!

I am moving my snake two and a half hours as I am moving cities!
I am most likely renting a U-Haul van as it will be easier to put her enclosure in! Should I put her in a pillow case and in a plastic bin?? That’s the advice I’ve mainly been seeing but for peace of mind I wanted to ask.
Thanks so much!

What the heck is happening with his eye ?

Pulled my boy out the tank only a couple minutes earlier and his left eye looks slightly sunken in with that white rim or "lip" poking out in the corner. EDIT: his eye caps came off last shed so wtf?!

Soaking all day

I’ve had my ball python for about two months. He’s been sitting in his water bowl a lot for the past week. It started with him being in his water bowl in the morning and then for the past two days he’s been in there almost all day. He does not have mites, his humidity has consistently been 72-76%, his hot side temp is 88-90 and cold side is 79-80. Water bowl is on the cold side. He has three hides and plenty of foliage.

I’ve never seen him soak before and I’m getting a little worried. Could he have just discovered that he enjoys it? I just don’t understand the sudden need to soak 24/7. He shed a couple weeks after I got him and he didn’t soak, so I don’t think that is it either.

(Concerned new owner) Is this normal breathing?

Quick context;

- I'm new to snakes, got this one 4 weeks ago

- he's been in blue (had cloudy eyes) for 6 days

- been hiding all 3 weeks

- didn't handle him unless necessary for said 3 weeks (only when moving enclosures)

- hot zone 32°C, 62%/ cool zone 24°C, 99%

- didn't notice any issue on last handling(6 days ago) except the said cloudy eyes and wrinkly skin

Hello, I'm new to snake keeping, and I wanted to know if this is normal breathing in ball pythons.

His breathing seems irregular in depth and timing, is this normal when they are about to molt?

Also it seems more labored than before (using more muscles)

I have more info on the enclosure in my previous post.

I handled him 6 days ago thinking that his adjustment period should be over, noticed that his eyes were cloudy, and put him back.

I offered him a baby rat outside his hide yesterday (I read on reddit that some pythons take food even in shed) but he didn't react to it.

He used to take food very quickly before, but I didn't think much of it because he's in shed.

I might be overreacting, but I haven't seen him breath like this before.

(Also is it normal for their eyes to be cloudy for 6 days?? Seems too long. I know I'm overreacting on this one, but just in case!!!)

Please inform me if this is normal before shedding or resting (or mayne just normal snake breathing), or if this is something that I actually have to be worried about.

Thank you!

my boy shed and there’s blood?

so i adopted my royal a while ago, and i checked him over and he seemed completely fine. about a week ago, i saw a mite on him, immediately i took him out and set him up for quarantine. i started to give him daily baths which worked, and also mite treatment which also had worked really well. he was in shed at that time as well, and now as i wake up i see shed outside of his hide, so i go to check up on him and i see blood on his paper towels? i’m really concerned, he’s also been showing signs of scale rot as he’s been trying to to get rid of the mites. can someone try come up with an explanation for this? i will take him to the vet asap, i just want some clarification at the moment

Frozen rat sellers

I’m getting a Ball Python later today and was curious what’s a good online seller of frozen rats? The snake I’m getting it’s currently fed live rat pups but I’ll be attempting to switch him to frozen/thawed. Could also use some tips on successfully switching from live to F/T. Thanks.
