Detox Facilities

I don't understand why detox facilities aren't getting more attention here; they're grrrreat! The opioid epidemic caused detox centers to spring up everywhere, even in small towns ~10,000 pop. They'll have you feeling spiffy in no time! They tend to pump you full of comfort meds - keep the consumer coming back.

And, probably the least appreciated beneficial aid is provided free of charge - other humans to detox with (this is actually HUgE). Having the support of a bunch of other "yous" going through the exact same thing is massive. The relapse rate is atrocious, but if you want to get off your sauce as painlessly as possible, there is no better option unless you're very wealthy.

The Neglected Truth

We are all drug addicts, a lifelong, likely quality of life destroying condition. Simply stopping 7OH use will not change that. You are now an addict (a disease according to all 1st world countries and the WHO). If we don't treat the underlying causes, it will manifest again. A 7OH curtailment doesn't miraculously change our pathology. Our brains have permanently changed. Accept that in all its horror, or don't...Another fix through another drug is just around the corner...Changing your psyche is the only real prophylactic**.**
