VIOFO A119 MINI 2 - A huge disappointment
When I got home from work today, I was shocked to discover that someone had crashed into my car while it was parked on the street. There are some pretty significant scratches on the left rear side.
After the first few frustrating minutes, I suddenly remembered—with great excitement—that about a year and a half ago I bought a VIOFO A119 Mini 2 dash cam. Until now, I had never really needed it, and apart from occasionally hearing it announce that it had saved a video after hitting a particularly large pothole, I had honestly almost forgotten that I even had it. Back then, I set it up and figured it would eventually come in handy one day. Of course, I also enabled the automatic parking collision detection with the highest sensitivity. Today, I thought that day had finally come.
After connecting to the camera through the app and browsing through the parking recordings, I noticed that almost every evening after I parked my car, it had recorded the street for several hours and marked all those videos as "locked," apparently assuming that something had happened to my car.
Even on the evening when the accident must have happened, there are around 30 locked videos showing nothing more than pedestrians casually walking along the sidewalk. After meticulously reviewing every single video from the time period during which the accident could have occurred, I had to admit, to my disappointment, that it wasn't captured at all.
I was already a bit suspicious because all the recordings were made between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and I found it hard to believe that someone would commit a hit-and-run at such a busy time of day with so many people around. But throughout the entire night, there isn't a single recording. And considering how large the scratches and dents are, I simply can't imagine that my car wouldn't have moved even slightly during the impact.
I'm genuinely sad and disappointed.
