Bonvoy Platinum: Worth rebooking The Cosmopolitan through Marriott for ~$80 more?

Hi all,

I recently read that Marriott Bonvoy benefits are generally not honored when booking The Cosmopolitan directly through the MGM website.

We currently have a 3-night reservation Terracestudio Fauntain View booked through MGM for $822, and I'm wondering if it's worth cancelling and rebooking through Marriott for about $904.

The Marriott rate would be non-refundable, whereas our current MGM booking has free cancellation. That said, the trip is already fully planned and we're definitely going in September.

The 3 elite night credits aren't a big factor for us, as we'll probably only end the year with around 20 nights anyway, so reaching 50 nights isn't realistic. Late Ckeout is also not important, our flight is earlier (11am)!

My main question is whether booking through Marriott would actually provide any meaningful Platinum benefits at The Cosmopolitan. Has anyone recently received things like:

  • Room upgrades?
  • Welcome amenity?
  • Food & beverage credit?
  • Any other Platinum recognition?

From what I've read, Vegas properties can be pretty inconsistent with elite benefits, so I'm not sure if paying an extra $80 is worth it.

Would love to hear recent experiences.

Thanks!
