How common is it for conversation to get repetitive when visiting family as an adult?
I see my parents (both in their mid 60s) about once or twice a year and one thing I've confirmed from last time I visited them is how often the exact same talking points and conversational scenarios came up like in previous occasions I've seen them.
I find its getting kind of tedious visiting them because the repetitive conversation is so boring. It's like they forgot we already had that conversation about a dozen times already over the years and I already know how it goes while they act like it's new,
Of course it isn't always like this and we do sometimes have original conversations about things but there is still a definite theme of old conversations being repeated. I just kind of play along with those conversations but inside I'm bored of them.
How common is it for conversations to get repetitive when visiting family? How do others manage it?
