Hey everyone,
I recently installed a new Android head unit in my Cadillac Escalade. Everything seems to be working fine, but the steering wheel controls have not worked at all since the install.
There is a purple/pink plug going into the head unit, along with a small bridge connector that links the steering wheel control adapter to the head unit.
The wiring setup is a bit confusing. The original steering wheel plug goes into a new socket, and the new plug goes into the original socket. Everything then connects back to the head unit. From what I understand, the new plug is supposed to communicate with the Android unit, while the original plug handles the steering wheel controls.
The problem happens when everything is fully connected. The steering wheel buttons do not light up at all, and the only button that works is the collision assist button. I have tried switching between different CAN bus protocols and using the steering wheel learning function, but nothing has worked.
I am not sure of the exact model of the head unit, but in the settings it shows GT6-NA.
At this point I am not sure what the next step should be. I have read that I might need to go through all the CAN protocols, rewire the connection to the head unit, or possibly get a different CAN bus adapter.
Any help would be really appreciated. I am still pretty new to this, so thanks for your patience.
