Hi everyone! I’m scheduled for a cystoscopy with hydrodistention under general anesthesia soon, and I’m feeling incredibly anxious about the recovery. I have a very low pain tolerance, and my past medical experiences like an IUD insertion (was given ibuprofen) and laparoscopic surgery were both a 9/10 on the pain scale for me. Because of those experiences, I’m trying to prepare for what to expect. If you’ve had this procedure, would you mind sharing your experience with these three things?
1. Initial Pain: What did the pain feel like right when you woke up? (Eg: bloated, period cramping) How would you rate it 1–10, and is there another procedure or illness you’d compare it to (e.g., a severe UTI or wisdom tooth extraction)?
2. First Pee: What was the sensation like? How would you rate it 1–10, and is there another procedure or illness you’d compare it to (e.g., a severe UTI or wisdom tooth extraction)?
3.First 24 Hours: Once you were discharged, what was the pain like during that first day? How would you rate it 1-10, and is there another procedure or illness you’d compare it to (e.g., a severe UTI or wisdom tooth extraction)?
Thank you so much!!
