Book on the pacific war without the novel writing

Hi, I'm looking for a book that cover the pacific war but with a drier prose, I've had a look a john toland and Ian tolls books but that are both written with this novelistic flair.

The only one I've been to get is Tower of skulls but it's only until 1942.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just wondering if you still use the traditional note book or have moved to some software? i was looking at something like monday.com but seems bit expensive
