Not sure how to continue

Hey guys! I’ve been trying to lose some body fat for about a year now, but I haven’t had much luck. I’ve tried strength training, eating in a calorie deficit, and tracking my food as accurately as I can. I was eating around 1,400 calories/day and getting 8–10k steps every day, but I’ve stayed around 120 lbs and honestly look pretty much the same. During this time I’ve probably had a few days where I ate too much without knowing.

This summer I decided to take a break from dieting and eat around my estimated maintenance of 1,500 calories since I’ve been mostly sedentary. I’ve been maintaining around 119 lbs, so now that school starts next week, I’m planning to get back into strength training and 10k+ steps a day.

My main goal is to lose some body fat, especially around my stomach/lower belly. I’m wondering what would be a reasonable calorie target be?

For reference I am 20 years old and 5’1. Any tips are appreciated!!

I hate my b-belly.

I’ve been trying to lose weight over the past year but I’m not getting the results that I want. I lose weight everywhere but my stomach and it’s really discouraging. I’m 5’1 120 lbs but I really don’t look like it. I think my South Asian genetics play a part too but I really want to get rid of my belly fat once and for all. To make matters worse I also have a b belly that’s very prominent that I absolutely hate. What calorie deficit and/or meal plan would work for me and any other tips?

I’m on academic probation…

I transferred to tech in summer 25 and ever since I haven’t been doing so hot. I’ve mostly withdrawn classes, failed one, and got some Ds and obviously I’m on probation right now. My SAP is also at a warning status.

I’m due to qualify for the HOPE scholarship in the fall and I really need this. I’m weighing between taking two classes this summer to get my GPA up (however I will be traveling), and waiting until the fall (I’m limited in the number of classes I can take and I’m afraid I’ll fall behind). What option seems sensible?
