How are you guys turning Twitch streams into Shorts/TikToks without spending hours editing?

One thing I’ve been struggling with is turning longer Twitch streams into YouTube Shorts/TikTok/Instagram content without spending forever scrubbing through VODs afterward.

So I started building a local desktop tool for myself that automates most of the clipping workflow.

Right now the workflow is basically:

  • while streaming I say “clip that”
  • the app detects the moment automatically
  • cuts the surrounding gameplay
  • removes the “clip that” audio from the final clip
  • exports it already formatted vertically for Shorts/TikTok/Reels

I also added:

  • loud/hype moment detection
  • OBS audio track support
  • custom trigger phrases
  • automatic exporting
  • duplicate prevention so it doesn’t create 20 clips from one reaction

I’m not selling anything and I plan on making it free — I’m mostly trying to figure out if this actually solves a real problem for other streamers or if people already have workflows they like better.

How are you guys currently handling short-form content from streams?

  • manually editing VODs?
  • Twitch clips?
  • replay buffer?
  • hiring editors?
  • AI clipping tools?

And realistically:
what would make something like this useful enough that you’d actually use it consistently?

What’s your current workflow for finding stream highlights/clips?

I started building a small tool for myself because I got tired of digging through long VODs trying to find good moments for Shorts/TikTok uploads.

The basic idea is:
while streaming, I can say something like “clip that,” and the program automatically finds the moment afterward and cuts it into a clip.

Right now it can:

  • automatically detect the trigger phrase
  • cut the surrounding gameplay
  • remove the trigger phrase from the final clip
  • export clips automatically
  • format clips for vertical content

I’m not selling anything — I actually plan on making it free — but I’m trying to figure out whether this solves a real annoyance for other streamers or if most people already have workflows they’re happy with.

How are you guys currently handling clips/highlights?

  • Manual editing?
  • Twitch clips?
  • Replay buffer?
  • Mods clipping moments?
  • AI tools?

Also curious:
what would make a clipping workflow genuinely useful enough that you’d actually use it regularly?

I'm not trying to self promote for views I'm genuinely interested in feedback i do have a video of the pretty early build on my youtube channel. its much farther along that it was in the video.
