Horned Up Geriatric Dog
Context: I moved into the house my boyfriend’s brother was renting out before us with the assumption that we would be by ourselves, but his brother and dog are still here due to unexpected circumstances.
We have been living together for about a year now and it’s been relatively okay. His brother and I do not get along very well but we typically don’t spend much time with each other, so it isn’t that big of a deal. My main problem is his dog W. W is an unfixed 10-year old female with severe separation anxiety. I can’t keep any thing soft (pillows, blankets, stuffed animals) outside of our bedroom without the dog humping/ peeing on it and making it smell to where washing it helps, but it still leaves a fishy smell.
I already hide in my room most of the time because the house honestly stinks (because of the accidents and that same fishy smell), and the the dog is attached by the hip to anyone who is home. But yesterday she came into my room, hopped on my bed, and started humping all of the pillows and blankets. I haven’t addressed this with him yet because I wanted to wait before I said something I regretted.
When roommate leaves, the dog sits by the door whimpering/barking on and off the entire time he is gone (Yes, I take her outside each time and most of the time there is no pee/poop). I have addressed this issue with my roommate and he seems to think that “That’s just what dogs do” (exact quote).
Am I the one being unreasonable??? I feel like i’m a prisoner in my own home, especially because, let me reiterate, I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!!!
