Rough time post RNY bypass
I have PCOS and Endometriosis.
From December 2022 to December 2025 I lost 50kg.
It was an incredibly slow process where some weeks/months I'd hardly lose anything and some months I'd lose 3-4kg.
I had an RNY gastric bypass in January this year for GERD that was so severe it had damaged my oesophagus and meant normal GERD surgery couldn't be done. I was 95kg before the 2 week pre-op diet, 91.4kg when I had the surgery and am now 69kg I've lost a lot more weight faster than I should've as it wasn't done primarily for weightloss however I had a complication that caused me have constant nausea and higher restriction days and caused me to get down to 77kg at my 7 week post surgery check-up and despite the dietitian and surgeon telling me to start eating 5-6 small meals a day to try and slow my weightloss down I ended up losing another 4kg in a month and was admitted to hospital for tests at 12 weeks post surgery, Turns out scar tissue from my surgery had formed adhesions which had stuck to my small bowel and prevented it from moving so I had urgent surgery 2 weeks ago today to remove those adhesions and free my small bowel. I'm now slowly recovering from that and currently weigh 69kg.
I definitely don't regret my surgery as it solved my GERD however I'm definitely mentally and physically struggling currently.
