Murder drones was a very quick watch, and very very very difficult to follow. I didn’t understand anything except the beginning where they established that theres robots that murder other robots for the company JCJenson. The story was messy and the scenes felt all over the place; character appear in scenes and then disappear without explanation, some of the character designs are hard to differentiate from each other etc.
For the relationships between certain characters, like N and Uzi or Uzi and her dad, I don’t really care because it’s never carefully developed. I didn’t care than N and Uzi got together because their relationship was rushed and felt more of like: “well since they’re two main characters of the opposite gender we’ll put them together!” rather than a relationship that we can see develop.
Random characters dying for no reason with no consequences, like uzi’s classmates, makes it hard to care about the rest of the characters/protagonists because it shows the viewer that their life holds no meaning. I didn’t care about the times uzi almost died and the lack of weight to their lives also just makes me not care about any of the protagonists in general.
The plot is weird, as if it was just made up on the spot rather than thought all the way through. It was so spotty and half assed that i couldn’t even tell you what this show was about even if i really wanted to. The virus or whatever is never really explained, theres almost 0 memorable history of where it comes from or what it does etc. Cyn was also never really explained either. Why is she evil? Why is she targeting the robots with this glitch/illness or whatever, it was probably explained for a split second in between the multitude of terrible meta jokes that downplay the seriousness of the story by 70%. It’s also never clearly explained why Uzi and Doll had to eat other robots??? It was introduced in two episodes and then never again. Uzi has problems in one episode, and then its forgotten about or solved in the next. Its like the directors just gave up on important aspects because they didn’t wanna explain them.
Some reveals also feel so forced and I (once again) don’t care because it was never conveyed as important due to the lack of character development. Examples of this are Tessa or Nori, idc about these characters because they were never displayed as extremely important to the plot or protagonists. Uzi barely talks about her mom, nor does she even care when she throws her mom into some pit or wtv, and still doesn’t care when she’s flung across space by N’s ship. Whats the point in bringing a useless character into the plot when you could be better explaining wtf the show is about? Tessa didn’t matter either because in N and V’s memories she doesn’t seem caring,
Kind, or important to them at all. She just seems like their owner and thats about it.
Overall, this show could’ve been good if more thought went into it and there were less comedic relief moments. Right when i start to care about the main cast some stupid joke is displayed on the screen, or the plot pivots to a different situation. I don’t understand how anyone can ship N and Uzi when it seems like they barely know or even like each other, holding hands and blushing is not developing their relationship at all!! 😭😭 Theres so many plot holes, so many “blink and you’ll miss” pieces that are extremely important to understanding the plot. So many characters that nbgaf about because they’re poorly written etc. Im happy I have tadc to make up for this madness
