5 weeks on from euthanization

It’s been 5 weeks now, we had to take our little guy to the vet he was 26 months old, had sudden diarrhea so we found an emergency place that catered for exotic animals (at 7.30pm in Germany). He’d had what we suspected was a stroke the week before and had definitely slowed down a bit, he got more tired quicker after coming out for his treats 4/5 times every day

The vet did an ultrasound and found two big tumors and basically said putting him down was the kinder thing to do considering his age. Was a bad shock to us and all very sudden.

Not sure why I’m posting this but the guilt/ sadness about his final hours is still constant, daily, weeks later. Even though rationally we know it was the right thing to do. Anyone else going through something similar- you’re not alone. We all hope they’ll go peacefully in their sleep but we don’t get to choose that, sadly.

He had the best life we could have possibly given him and was an excited, happy super-friendly little boy till the last day
