Do we tape over????

Bebe (my little girl!) learnt that this opening is in fact an opening recently, she's very clingy and loves to have fun with me outside her terrarium. It's been about.. 2 days since I shown her that she can approach this opening and climb on my hand but now she's doing this and I'm so scared her hand will get hurt by this 😭 I saw her hanging on it for like, a full second probably and it seems dangerous. Apart from adding more bedding so she maybe will stop hanging (which I was planning on doing cus I got too little bedding when I was switching it out), is there anything I can do?? It's a new terrarium too 😭

I will pick up this little girl from very bad care up this evening to give her a better home

Hi! I already am a hamster owner and thanks to this subreddit I am able to give him a nice home (second and third pic is my current hamster)

Today I saw this little white hamster girl (first pic) on our local 2nd hand marketplace platform and she lives in a very bad cage with little bedding and no enrichment. I decided to adopt her and will get her a big tank with everything she needs. I am looking for all the things right now.

But I have a question, how do I make sure she is healthy? How do I notice if she has any problems because of the bad care she had? She is still young I think 4-5 Months old.
Do I need to take any quarantine steps before placing her in her forever home?

My little angel passed the bridge last night in my palms. I love her so much. Just wanted to share her light with you all

Busya was my baby. She came into our lives by chance shortly after my bestie and I broke up. She helped us through the past two years and brought us so much joy. She was our little agent of chaos, who had the attitude of a queen. We feel grateful to have been chosen by her.

Her time with us was short but she elevated both our lives more than we could imagine.

She’ll always be my little speed demon, my tsarina, and I hope she felt as loved by us as we did by her.

Rest in peace Busya. I love you so much.

I’m having mixed emotions about this

So I saw this hamster on Facebook marketplace, I was thinking about getting him however I already have a female Syrian and I don’t know how this would work.

I don’t want my girl in to be stressed. But I’ve heard this can be stimulating for both of them? Like in a good way? I’m not sure though.

Obviously they would be in separate cages my girl is in a bucatstate 3.0 and I would also buy a new 3.0 for the male as I’m not a fan of these Ikea custom cages.
I can find the space for him it’s more so if it’s a good idea for the both of them, they will be in the same room.

Looking boxy

Our setup for our little girl has her cage extended out to her closed up playpen so she can run around at night when we are sleeping. She usually sleeps in the cage, but this morning I found her in the cardboard box that's in the playpen looking like this 🤣 incredibly boxy.

CRAZY UPDATE! (From, "I think my hammy is in my walls")

Just for some context, I made multiple posts a few days ago, asking for advice on how to catch my loose hammy. I found his cage door wide open with no sign of him. He ended up finding a hole for pipes in the floor. I was hearing scratching in my kitchen wall at night and found the hole the noise was coming from. My dad was very against cutting a hole in the wall to get him out because he didn't believe that the noise was him, but I was certain it was.

IT'S CURRENTLY 12AM AND I JUST PROVED HIM WRONG!

I decided I had enough and went and bought a "borescope" (snake camera) to snake down the hole the noise was coming from, AND ACTUALLY SAW HIM! For context, my house has 2 floors and the hole went from the top floor of our guest bedroom, straight down into our kitchen wall. It was all copper piping and no insulation. It was clear to me that he wouldn't be able to climb back out. I had attempted to put a rope down the hole for him but as I watched him on the camera, it seemed he was trying VERY hard to climb it but just couldn't get a grip and kept falling back down. He actually tried to grab on to the camera and climb it up like he knew I was trying to help him. He was CLEARLY stuck and wanted out very badly.

When my dad came home, I ended up showing him the footage of him and he got upset that he was proven wrong (he has an ego problem). He wanted proof that my hammy was actually in there to cut a hole in the wall. He was super pissed off about it but ended up drilling holes around where we heard him moving. I snaked the camera in the hole we made and he ended up following my camera out of the hole. I'm not sure if the light from the camera actually guided him out or not but he walked right out like nothing happened and didn't seem scared at all. Naturally I was scared of losing him and having him run back in so I grabbed a basket and threw it over him, and covered the holes.

My dad is still pissed that he had to "rip his house apart" but honestly he over exaggerates and he can easily just patch the holes back up. As for hammy, he is currently back in his tank, eating, drinking, and running on his wheel like he didn't just get stuck in the wall and fell down a million times. He seems to be perfectly fine and active. I have no idea how his body is built like a tank.

new ceramic hideout and she won’t stop sitting on top of it

Genuinely never seen her go inside of it once, every single time I hear a little wobble noise I know for a fact she’s sat on top of it🙈

I think Odin is dying quicker than I thought

With stuffed cheeks he was only 54 grams he’s been between 56-62 his whole life so this is greatly concerning. He’s also losing hair. Even worse one of his tumors ruptured on his ear and I’m just devastated for him. He’s still up, moving, eating, letting me cuddle him. He lets me know when things hurt, he has no inhibition about biting if something hurts so I know at the very least the tumor isn’t bothering him enough for him to even look up from his food when I’m touching it so that’s good. My mom and brother both agree it’s not yet his time but I fear the time is soon. I just hope I find him passed in his sleep and we don’t have to take him to our vet but I will if I have to. I’m just heartbroken, both Dumpling and Odin have cancer and I only learned about Dumplings this week and Odin’s cancer has progressed significantly it’s just so much all at once.

Dwarf hamster not fully dwarf..????

I need to take my girl to the vet soon (for a check up! She's all fine and dandy as far as I can observe) so it's more of a "hey guys what do we think" question than a genuine worry, but uh, my hammy seems to not be a dwarf?

I've seen so many charts of what different hamster breeds look like and Bebe, my maybe-not-an-actual-dwarf hamster seems to appear more like a Russian than anything else.

Best pictures of her face attached; also, congrats Bebe! She's in the process of loosing weight since I sadly did mak3 a mistake with how much food she should be getting :( she lost about 8 grams in the past week and a half so I'm very proud of my girl!!! This mistake will never be made again 😭

can i put cages next to each other?

i currently have a male syrian in a 100cmx50cm enclosure and i saw a female robo on facebook marketplace in a kaytee critter trail listed for free in my area :( i want to rescue her and have started buying everything i needed.

it might be a stupid question but can i place her enclosure (100x50cm) next to my male syrians? would it be a problem since they are different genders?

and since ive never owned a robo before how often and how much am i supposed to feed her? i currently feed my syrian male 1 tbsp of bunny nature hamster dream mix every other day along with 1-2 blocks of mazuri rat and mouse 6f blocks
