FCC has voted to prohibit all testing laboratories in China for radio frequency devices.

I searched but didn’t see this mentioned yet, and I was just responding to another post about it so figured it deserved its own mention.

As of April 30, 2026, the FCC has voted to prohibit all testing laboratories located in mainland China and Hong Kong from certifying radio frequency devices for the U.S. market, affecting ~75% of US-bound devices. This ban extends previous restrictions and impacts about 126 labs, forcing a shift to costlier, non-Chinese labs due to security concerns.

This affects all WiFi, Bluetooth and RFID devices among others. This isn’t a total ban immediately but gives manufacturers 2 years to comply. But eventually Amazon will crack down on it, if you sell these you will want to switch to testing labs outside China. We use one already in Taiwan. Japan and US would be alternatives as well.
