24F - Spooky Book Club Friends!

[EDIT] HI! Wow I didn't know there would be this much interest! Thanks so much to everyone who has reached out. I feel that we have far more than anticipated as it is so I am going to close invites for now! If you're disappointed I am sorry to hear that, but encourage you to start your own! Clearly there are interested people. Happy Halloween everyone!

Hi everyone! I've posted once before but thought it might be nice to have a more constructive invitation for friendship. I'm 24F who recently moved to the area as a newly wed! I've always loved horror movies, procedurals and a book that makes me jump, so thought a year-round spooky book club would be a perfect way to make some friends in the area!

- This is an entirely free club, I'm not looking to charge a fee or run a huge operation. We'd all just buy our own copies of the books.

- One book per month (crime, thriller, horror, slasher, procedural or haunting themed books. They will be rotated to match seasons!)

- Books are announced at the start of the month

- Meetings would be at the end of the month, an hour to chat about the book, and another to simply socialize. It can become a bit less formal the more friendly we become with each other.

- To start we can meet publicly in locations such as cafes and book stores, in the Sacramento area. Eventually if we're all comfortable I'd be happy to host at my home! Ideally we'd move into having a potluck style meeting.

- As a lesbian, I can assure this is a queer friendly space! I would love to welcome people of all ages so long as they are 21+

- I know that the October reading has a bit of a head start on us but I think it's early enough in the month to still have us kick off for the spookiest month of the year!

My personal vision for this beyond getting in at least one book a month, would be to find some genuine friendships united by a great piece of literature. I'd love to have 2-6 other members and just have a consistent social thing to add to all our calendars.

Please feel free to DM if you're interested in joining or put any questions below!

If you want to connect on other interests: Reading, Writing, Crochet, Nature, Cooking, Baking, Interior Design, Film and TV Watching are all hobbies of mine! As I said, feel free to DM!

Experienced DM Looking for D&D 5e players, Written (pbp) To Start

Hello everyone! I'm F24 living in PST (GMT-7) and I am looking to host 1-4 players for a text based D&D game! Of course I stick to classic fantasy plots but am always open to expanding. I've got tons of new and old campaigns I'd love to revisit and just have a good time!

I know some of you might be wondering why an experienced DM is posting in a subreddit for new players and to be honest it's because the start is the most fun! In my experience so many players get too caught up on complex character sheets and game mechanics, forgetting that the goal isn't winning or math: it's to tell a good story. I'm pretty old in D&D years, so I think I've earned some relaxed play in my DM tenure LOL.

**What is PBP?**

PBP is Play by Post gameplay, a fancy way for saying that you play by writing what happens rather than speaking. More advanced players can partake in an asynchronous version that is more role play based. For what I am looking to do, is run generally synced, text-based games that still require dice rolling, character sheets and actionable players.

**How is it different from classic D&D?**

Well, the rules are the same, the mode they're conducted under are different. Though eventually moving towards group voice calls and live sessions would be the very awesome goal, I think that PBP is also a great way for new players to have less friction in terms of scheduling or being nervous when playing for the first time. We will still have table rules, develop character sheets, and partake on a fantastic adventure that all of us get to enjoy.

**Are You In? Here's the Now-What Answer**

If you are interested in joining up, direct message me! I won't be reaching out to players through the comments. I will however respond to questions you may have. We can chat a bit over DM and if we feel like it's a right fit, we can move over to Discord for the consistent sessions! I am open to running multiple single player games as well as a group separately. There will only be one group option offered with that 4 person maximum.

**Read This, So You Don't Ask Me Later LOL**

I am a woman, I am open to players of all gender identities. Please be 18+ if reaching out to me for this. No, this isn't some sort of paid DM thing, I am just looking for players to befriend and run games with. Yes, I will help you learn to DM, just message me. I don't run romance storylines at my tables, if you're looking for that, look elsewhere please! I don't love gag characters so assume that you have to be something from the actual booklets LOL. I run homebrew games so don't worry about spoilers! I don't use AI. I can't/won't send you dice but digital rolling is okay for a while. And yes, I can teach you the rules and fancy words so you learn to play with people besides me haha. Time zone differences are okay for 1 player games, groups need to be in the same time zone as me (or wiling to adjust to mine).

Alright I think that's just about everything. Hope we chat soon!

[EDIT] The group is filled up pretty quick, so I am trying to hold space for one beginner to join in! The table is full of relaxed, experienced players who will be happy to have you. Even if you don't end up at the table, feel free to message me! I am still open to running one on one campaigns, and potentially opening a second group.

24F - New State Means New Friends!

I literally moved across the country (VA->CA) earlier this month and am finally settling in a little more! Despite my wife's best efforts to care about all my hobbies, I can sense it's time for me to get some friends of my own.

I am a SAHW so my days are generally flexible! Besides always cooking up a storm, I love to read and I write fiction novels ranging from horror to romance, always with a sapphic lead. By trade I was a garden designer and am looking forward to my porch being quite lively until I have a garden. I adore mystery novels and procedural TV as well as (nearly) any well made film. I've always been a club starter so let me know if you'll co-chair a book club, walking club, board game night, thrifting group or anything in between!

I am an INTP but absolutely chatty. I can talk about everything from theological literature to hyper specific internet drama and be having a good time. I'll put some favorites below, please feel free to contact me if we have any overlap!

Notes to Consider: I prefer friends 21+; I am gay married so it's all Love is Love over here; I am Buddhist, doesn't mean much for you besides the fact that I have statues in my house lol, just a warning I guess; not always good at texting.

Favorite Movies: Scream (1996), 12 Angry Men, Pride and Prejudice, But I'm a Cheerleader, Speed, Sleepless in Seattle, The Pelican Brief, Conspiracy Theory, Turning Red, Practical Magic, Jurassic Park, Rush Hour, IP Man, Ms Congeniality, Robin Hood, Rumble in the Bronx, Thursday M-rder Club and Fantastic Mr Fox

Favorite Shows: Midsummer M-rders, Rosemary & Thyme, Coronation Street, Blank the Series, 23.5 the Series, M-rder She Wrote and Real Housewives of Road Island & New Jersey, Gilmore Girls, Charmed (I think I watch too much TV now)

Favorite Books: The House on the Cerulean Sea, Cult X, K-llers of a Certain Age/K-lls Well With Others, Sundays at Tiffany's, Wash it All Away and Lotus Girl

Hope to chat with you soon!
