Looking for feedback on my in-progress personal website.
Hi! My name is Henry. I enjoy web design and development as a hobby and seem to always be redesigning my website. I'm not done with the current version, but decided to push it to prod and continue developing there because I live life on the edge.
Anyway, I'd love to get some feedback on the design language and overall vibe. The content itself isn't completely finished, but there should be complete examples of the parts that I want you to critique.
The site is at https://www.henrywaill.com, and the home page has all of the sections I'm currently thinking to have there. In terms of big-picture content, I'm open to suggestions of what else I might consider having on a portfolio/personal site.
I have one project page complete at the moment at https://www.henrywaill.com/projects/todos, and you shouldn't pay much attention to the projects/ intermediary page (accessed through the "view all projects" button) yet, as I'm hoping it will fill out better once I add more of my projects to the site.
In the "About Me" section, I'm trying to find a way to add a headshot of myself in there. My first instinct is to have one to the right in a 2-column layout, but the text becomes very tall in a way that feels unbalanced, so I'm not exactly sure my plan.
The "Resume" section is pretty long. I know. I'm not sure if it is too long, and I'm not sure if doing something like collapsing the experience items with the option to expand is a good vibe. Overall, I like the idea of having most of the content on the home page, instead of having another page dedicated only to the Resume, for example. Not sure.
Is it okay that the contact form extends farther down the page than its accompanying text?
Also interested to hear thoughts on the overall design of https://www.henrywaill.com/bookclub, but I'm overall happy with it.
No AI was used in the design process, but I'd say 35% of the code (backend logic/database/other crap) has Claude's grimy little fingerprints all over it.
I don't have a vast design background, so I'd appreciate constructive feedback that I can use to improve going forward. Thanks for your time!
