Hello all, first I want to say that I’m new to 3d printing. I just got the Lab A1 combo a couple months ago and I love the printer, love the community, love it all! (I’m making some miniature low poly furniture for a couple sequences in my first feature film, as well as a full suit of cosplay samurai armor for myself!)

However I keep getting errors that start as nozzle not extruding properly. Filament might be too thin…

Then toolhead malfunction immediately followed by eddy sensor.

A little background… I live in Las Vegas and it’s getting hotter and the room I have my printer in gets pretty warm. I used to have it in an enclosure but took it out because I was convinced I was getting heat creep (still think that might be the culprit but like I said I’m very new to all this). I’m using PLA basic with a .4 hardened tip.

In attempt to chase this problem I’ve taken the whole thing apart (accidentally damaged the ribbon sensor and had to replace to get it to even try a print), taken the front assembly apart and cleaned/checked extruder gear and parts (all looked good), and needled the hot end while at 240c, as well as ordered 3x nozzles and used them ALL to trouble shoot, they basically do this right out of the gate so I don’t think it’s build up or an actual clog. (?)

It will print small 30-40 minute prints most of the time and I was able to get a nice sized helmet and oni mask as well as some armor plates, and I must admit, this print that keeps failing is a creation of my own (made in blender), but some of the other armor parts had under extruded layers in them as well.

I’m going to do a cold pull next but honestly what’s the difference between doing this and just changing out to another new nozzle?

Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to many years of 3d printing!!

Thank you in advance…

Also! I just ordered a bunch of PET G to see if the higher temp resistance will help in this warm room. I also have a stand up AC I plan to put in the room to bring the ambient temp down…
