So what is First Contact going to look like?

Either Grace decides to go home, or he dies on Erid. Either way, though, theres no way a bunch of Eridians dont decide to come to Earth to meet us and thank us for our help and learn about Earth culture.

Either way, by 2150 or so there's going to be at least a small Eridian colony on Earth, teaching us materials science and learning astrophysics.

What's THAT going to be like?

Mostly friendly dog is racist against poodles

So, my Freyja is a 100 lb Swiss Shepherd / Malamute mix. Ive trained her since she was a puppy to be sweet and gentle with humans and other dogs; she unfortunately has a strong prey drive towards chickens, but we simply avoid chickens since I have no safe way to train her out of this.

However, she will sometimes "correct" small yippie dogs that act aggressively towards her. Ive tried to train her to "always be the bigger dog", but if a small dog is off leash and outright attacks her, she will retaliate. (She has never drawn blood or injured another dog in the process)

So, one day about 4 years ago, a small poodle/cocker spaniel mix lunged at her, Freyja barked, and before I could intervene the smaller dog's owner started kicking her in high heels. My first priority was getting Freyja to a safe distance, so I didnt have time to turn it into any kind of "teaching moment" - but ever since then, whenever a poodle mix gets within a few feet of her, she tries to grab its neck and hold it down - which obviously doesnt sit well with other humans at the dog park.

My solution has been to simply avoid dog parks. We've been in and out of homelessness for the past 7 years (currently living out of a bus/RV conversion), so I dont really have the resources for training, but Im curious what I could do to slowly introduce her to the notion that poodles dont automatically summon kung-fu Karens.

Idea for a Fiddler Crab (75t) kitbash

I havent seen the CGL minis together to gauge relative sizes, but how likely is this to work:

- Hoplite body

- Nightstar legs

- King Crab left arm

- Crab right arm

- 2xSRM6 from... Not sure? What minis have an angled SRM6 box?

FAFO-X "Fafnerker"
"Fafnerker" was a one-off Frankenmech constructed during a raid on Defiance Industries' Hesperus factory by the Word of Blake during the Jihad. Blakist forces had lured the facility's defending battlemechs away, leaving only a company of battlearmor in defense of the factory itself. Then, a detachment of Battlemechs entered the facility to attempt to suborn or sabotage it.

The technicians and engineers knew they had little time, and ordered the battlearmor company to delay the infiltrators for as long as possible. With scant hours to work, they cobbled together a single 100-ton Battlemech from available parts. The Fafnerker's head, torsos, and legs are those of a Fafnir, while its arms are from a Berserker, with an Atlas's left hand actuator hastily wired into its left arm. The Fafnerker mounts twin LB-20X autocannon and an Angel ECM Suite in its torsos, a Hatchet in its right arm, and a large blast door welded onto its left arm to serve as a makeshift shield. Fifteen rounds of ammunition supplied the Fafnerker's cannons with just enough shots to last the battle, with five sabot slugs in each side torso and five cluster rounds located in a bin directly behind the cockpit. An assistant technician, Danielle Hassenhoff, had to ride along in the Fafnerker's "rumble seat" and manually load cluster munitions into the Fafnerker's cannons whenever it wished to switch firing modes.

When powered up, the Fafnerker could only achieve a top speed of 32 kph, which forced the mechwarrior (actually a half-trained technician named Steve Braddoc) to use ambush tactics to take down the invaders. Even with these handicaps, the Fafnerker managed to destroy four of the six invading Blakist 'mechs, driving the remaining two off to be destroyed by Steiner air support.

After the battle, the Fafnerker was decommissioned, and mounted as a statue in front of the factory's inner blast gates.

The way the power works is, the Simurgh essentially has the power to cause your natural choices to always lead to the absolute worst possible outcome.

So, once the Simurgh has used its powers on a PC, whatever that PC's player chooses next is directly and obviously responsible for everything becoming permanently worse, and whatever goals they had becoming unachievable. And it is *always* the fault of the PC.

In a game where the PC has any kind of luck or fate-controlling powers themselves, they still work, but using them always results in a "dick genie" scenario where the outcome is far worse than if they hadn't used the powers. But, if they realize this and don't use their powers, then it becomes obvious that THAT choice makes things far worse, and they SHOULD have used them.

if they notice the double-bind and switch choices, it creates a "fate ratchet" where every new choice makes things even worse than if they hadn't chosen; if they fail to choose, THAT makes things obviously worse instead.
