My dentist is lowkey saving me

My dentist is lowkey saving me

I don’t have a relatable picture, I have a story. Here’s a picture of the sun setting, I took this a few days after I was released from being an inmate at the hospital.

For about 2 years now, I’ve been feeling ill. I’ve been going to my doctor who will not stop prescribing me antibiotics. He refuses to send me to a specialist. Sadly I hope his malpractice is brought to light.

About four months ago, I started getting a low grade fever. It was constant, every time I checked my temperature it was a fever. I was living off Advil to function.

About 2 months ago, I started getting migraines. These migraines have progressed to visual ones, where Advil does not work.

I went to the ER 3 times in the last two months because my pain and migraines were unbearable, I could not keep food down. I was told I have migraines the first time, got a CT scan the second time and was told again it’s just migraines, third time I was told to take Advil with Tylenol.

About a month ago I went through something traumatic and all my symptoms worsened 10x. I had new symptoms that scared me.

In a desperate act, I called my dentist and told them about my migraines and severe jaw and neck pain. They were not open on the weekends, so I got my dentists number and she kept in touch, asked me questions and got me to see her immediately.

I saw her today and I can’t stop crying. Because I’m relieved.

I have not slept in 3 weeks, this is the first time I have been able to take a nap.

She assessed my mouth, did some tests, put a piece of cotton in my mouth, towards my front teeth and told me to bite down on it there. She left for about 20 minutes.

When she came back, she took the cotton from my mouth and my jaw was uncontrollably shaking for about 10 minutes. She explained to me she needs to do X-rays, is going to make me a new mouth guard, and prescribed me muscle relaxers. She told me she thinks my body is so stressed to the point it’s overworking itself. It explains my fever, my pain, my headaches and migraines.

I took the relaxants today with a small dose of seroquel and I FINALLY slept. About a 5 hour nap. I don’t feel completely rested but I am so relieved.

I never thought my dentist would save me. Bless people in the healthcare system who have a pure heart. I am so grateful.

Please help me sleep

I recently went through something traumatic.

I can’t sleep. When I do I get bad nightmares, to the point I’m knocking shit over.

When I sleep I can only sleep for about 3 hours at a time.

I can’t explain it but my body and brain are fighting it. I take 175mg of seroquel nightly to put me to sleep, and it’s sedating me but my brain won’t shut off.

Please help me. I’m so tired. I can’t stop crying.
I feel like I need to relearn how to sleep.
I’ve been laying here practically all day trying. My brain won’t let me rest.

I moved out.. thought I had it under control

I’ll try to keep this as short and relevant as possible.

My parents were abusive growing up. At the age of 7, my sisters (3y, 2y) switched rooms with me as my youngest sister was too scared to sleep alone. I had my own space while they shared a room, this is relevant for later.

At the age of 7, my parents returned to their 5am-9pm job, leaving all the responsibilities to my nanny and me. At the age of 9, the nanny was no longer coming around, and the responsibilities of my siblings fell on me. I had to grab them from school, ensure they were fed, bathed, and in bed before my parents came home.

Since I could remember, at the age of 2, being beaten and punished for making mistakes, not understanding things and ‘giving my parents a hard time.’ Whatever you can think of that a kid would mess up, I was beaten for.

Growing up I never really experienced physical affection, when I did receive it, it was often forced by my mother, or family at parties. Getting hugs and kisses but never giving them back, because I didn’t want them to begin with.

Now at the age of 31, I’m moved out, living with my boyfriend. I’m getting mild panic attacks when he hugs or touches me unexpectedly (hold my hand, for example); like arousal but not the good kind. The kind that you get before bracing for impact, and want to run until you find a safe spot to curl in a ball and cry.

I want him to embrace me. I want to love him and be physically close, and yet the panic is intense and I don’t know how to go about it, other than reminding myself I’m safe.
