When did your kids walk?
My boy is 14 months old and still seems really far away from walking independently and I am trying to not spin out about it…but it is gnawing at me
He had a hip dysplasia brace on from 8m-11m for mild hip dysplasia, which seems to have fixed it but I won’t know for sure until we get his next set of X-rays and meet with the ortho in a few weeks
He started to pull to stand whilst wearing the brace and has been a confident cruiser since he got the brace off but he still can’t stand up unassisted (as in get off the ground and stand without something to hold onto)
He can balance solo for a few seconds when standing but isn’t keen on it and sits down as soon as I let go of his hands
As of his first birthday he wants us to hold his hands so he can walk but still drags his tip toes a lot
I’m sure it’s fine, but I’m starting to get worried and would just like to hear other people’s walking journeys please - especially late walkers
He is obsessed with buttons and twisting lids on and off things, so maybe he is just focusing on fine motor skills?
Idk, signed a FTM 😅
ETA: thank you so much to everyone for their stories and perspectives! It has really made me feel better knowing there is such a wide range of ‘normal’ and even delayed walkers will get there with help
Also for context:
Luckily my son’s hip dysplasia was mild so its more about treating it now so he doesn’t have arthritis issues in his 20s…but who knows where he would be progress wise if he hadn’t worn the brace? He finally worked out all-fours crawling beginning of February and is a speedy demon now and obsessed with climbing up on everything at the park
He is also a tall noddle baby (97th percentile height and 80ish percentile weight) so from reading some responses might also be that?
