▲ 4 r/GERD

I stopped taking my Voquezna two weeks ago after my doctor gave me the go-ahead. Long story short, I was diagnosed with GERD, esophagitis, and gastritis in October, started 20mg of Voquezna in the beginning of November. Also completely changed my diet, cut out all caffeine, chocolate, processed foods, dairy, gluten, etc. for 3 solid months then have been basically maintaining this with the exception of some dairy and gluten since then.

This all helped tremendously, so I decided to start weaning off Voquezna in late January. Went from 20MG a day to 10MG a day for about 8 weeks. Felt good so I moved to 10MG every other day. Some rebound at first but then fine, did this for about 6 weeks. Felt good so I went to 10MG every 2 days. Some rebound but again, mostly fine, so after 3 weeks, went to every 3 days, then finally off completely.

It's been a little over 2 weeks and this week I haven't felt great especially (note that I have not changed from my diet at all). Started with some burning feelings in my upper stomach and esophagus, now it's been that lump in my throat feeling every day. I take famotodine twice a day with slippery elm and DGL both twice a day, as well as aloe juice. That lump in my throat feeling is not going away and I guess is getting worse.

My question is, is this normal rebound or do I need to go back on the Voquezna? This is my first time dealing with this so I'm not sure. I really wanted to try to get off the medication but I don't want things to get worse and mess up my progress. But I also don't want to be too impatient and go right back on it if I don't have to. Any opinions/thoughts? Thanks!
