This is a lil monitor I got recently(Magnavox Color 40, kind of a cheap budget version of a 1084, with only ~350 tvl vs the commodore's 600 tvl). I was intrigued because it has a little button that can turn the screen into green monochrome 💚

I spent all afternoon cleaning it up. Unfortunately, the screen is badly scratched. Like, to the point where it's unusable. I'm hoping to find a similar size tube someday to swap it in. These are easily RGB moddable(the CM8702 variant), so it would be totally worth it.

EDIT: apparently this is not a "Color 40" model. It's a "Color Display 40," and yes, there's another one with the name Color 40 lol 🤷 it has a Phillips tube and everything, the A34EAJ00X

Just thought I would share my results after using a magic eraser on my poor banged up D series. As you can see, there are deep scuffs along the top, some of which removed the paint.

I wouldn't expect any positive results on those paint-removed spots(seen as yellowy and white, better seen in the after results). But on the dark colored scuffs above the paint, the results were pretty good. From what I understand, magic eraser essentially just sands the paint a bit, spreading some around.

I do intend to recap this set soon too, and will provide before/after results on those too. Let's give this neglected D series a second chance! 😇

Edit: To clarify, the before pics were taken after cleaning and scrubbing it down. The dark areas are true scuffs and scratches, not caked dirt.

Hopefully the mods don't pull this thinking it's a typical listing.

We have a warehouse FULL of CRT's. It's like a damn museum. I'm talking *literally* more than 1,000.

On Sunday, we are trying to rid ourselves of as many as we can. Normal consumer sets(non-Trinitron/JVC/VGA monitors) will be ONLY $20. You can buy as many as you would like, and you will be able to test them! I recommend bringing a device like a small console to test inputs.

On the other sets, make an offer. I'm thinking probably around $60-100 for Trinitrons, etc. If you buy multiple heavy ones, we'll give you a good deal. There are some high end VGA monitors that we've tested and have various issues, you can take those for dirt cheap if you intend to fix them. I'm sure you will stumble on others which work, make an offer! We are trying to offload, so we won't haggle you to death.

This is very much a once in a lifetime deal. You'll never see this many crt's all in one place again.

This will be in Fitchburg, MA. From 7am to 2pm. I cannot disclose the location until the morning of or night before, for obvious reasons.
