Name

Foxtale: Emotion Journal Buddy  https://joinfoxtale.com/ (Note this Wizard event feature isn't out yet - it's with testers!)

Description

A gentle, story driven journaling and self care game where your emotions power a quiet, magical world.

You travel alongside a fox companion through soft illustrated locations, restoring light by reflecting, journaling, and completing small emotional quests. As you write, glowing memory orbs are collected and used to awaken towns, unlock stories, and help other animal characters who are struggling with their own feelings.

There is no failure or pressure. You move at your own pace, dress your fox, build a growing library of personal “books” made from your reflections, and slowly shape your companion’s personality through your choices. The focus is calm progression, emotional insight, and cozy moments of connection.

Designed to feel warm, safe, and quietly meaningful, this game blends journaling, narrative, and light life sim elements into a comforting daily ritual.

Background

Journaling has always been difficult for me. Pen and paper is intimidating, while a lot of journaling/mood tracking apps assume you can easily name what you’re feeling, which I often can’t.

Many times I only notice physical sensations or a vague sense that something is “off,” but the words don’t come.

So I built something gentler for myself. You journal alongside a small fox companion, and each time you write you unlock a short lesson about emotions. It also includes simple definitions for each emotion so I can explore what a feeling might mean without guessing or feeling embarrassed.

The game elements are there because story and curiosity help my brain engage and I always enjoyed buying items like clothes and furniture in games like Animal Crossing. There are no streaks and no pressure to be consistent. Starting with “I don’t know” is allowed.
