I’m troubleshooting a new AM5 build that powers on but gives no display and stays on debug code 00.

Parts:

  • CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
  • Motherboard: ASRock X870E Taichi Lite
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5, 2 sticks
  • GPU: RTX 5070 + RTX 4060 8 GB, but for first boot I’m only testing with one GPU
  • Storage: 2× M.2 NVMe 500 GB
  • Cooler: ENDORFY Navis F280 ARGB 280 mm AIO
  • PSU: ENDORFY Supremo FM6 1000 W ATX 3.1
  • Case: be quiet! Shadow Base 800 / 800 DX

What I did:

  1. The board originally had BIOS 3.15.
  2. I downloaded BIOS 4.20 from ASRock for the X870E Taichi Lite.
  3. I formatted a USB drive as FAT32 in Ubuntu.
  4. The USB showed as vfat FAT32.
  5. I renamed the BIOS file to CREATIVE.ROM and placed it in the root of the USB drive.
  6. At first I used the wrong USB port for BIOS Flashback.
  7. Then I found the correct BIOS Flashback USB port near the Ethernet port.
  8. BIOS Flashback ran properly: the LED blinked for around 2 minutes and then stopped.
  9. After that I powered off, removed the USB drive, and cleared CMOS.
  10. I installed the CPU carefully, matching the triangle.
  11. CPU socket lever had some resistance when closing, but it seemed normal.
  12. Installed RAM in A2 and B2.
  13. Installed both M.2 SSDs.
  14. Installed the motherboard into the case.
  15. Connected:
  • 24-pin ATX
  • 2× CPU/EPS 8-pin
  • front panel power switch / power LED
  • AIO pump
  • radiator fans
  • SATA power for AIO/control if required
  1. Mounted the AIO cooler.
  2. Tried first boot with one GPU installed.
  3. The system powers on: AIO pump runs, radiator fans run, case fans run.
  4. No display output.
  5. Motherboard debug display shows 00 and stays there.

Troubleshooting already done:

  • Repeated BIOS Flashback using the correct port.
  • Cleared CMOS again after flashing.
  • Verified both CPU/EPS 8-pin cables are connected.
  • Verified the cables are CPU/EPS, not PCIe.
  • Tried with only one RAM stick in A2.
  • Loosened the AIO CPU block slightly in case of uneven/too much mounting pressure.
  • Still the same result: powers on, fans/pump work, black screen, debug code 00.
