Raccoon bust till 2:30… woke up and brained a squirrel instead. Another one for the pot 🥘

Tried for raccoons last night till 2:30… nothing.
Deer, flying squirrels, and some mice (rats?) were out, but the raccoons that hit my cams every night ghosted me hard. Thinking about grabbing an electronic caller — anyone run one that actually works?
This morning though… this dude showed up.
Brained him. Barely any funky chicken dance.
Another one for the pot.

Worth buying a used .50 cal air rifle for deer on my property? (Close-range blind setup)

Hey everyone,

I have about an acre of woods on my property that’s basically a deer highway—tons of whitetails frequent it, and I can get within 20 yards reliably from a blind. I’m not into bow hunting and don’t want the noise/recoil of a regular firearm for this spot. I’ve been looking into big-bore air rifles, specifically .50 caliber PCPs for ethical deer harvests.
Is it worth researching used .50 cals (like Umarex Hammer, AirForce Texan, etc.)? Pros/cons of going used? Any recommendations for reliable models in the $600–1200 range? What should I watch out for when buying used (leaks, shot count, etc.)?
Also, general advice for airgun deer hunting at super close range: best slugs, shot placement tips, practice routines, legal/ethical stuff? Thanks in advance—excited to hear real experiences from air rifle hunters!

Looking at DNT Zulus HD V2 for my Air Venturi Alpha Compact – 3-12x or 5-20x? Worth the LRF + Ballistic Calc?

Hey everyone,
I’m planning to pick up a DNT Zulus HD V2 digital day/night vision scope for my Air Venturi Alpha Compact (.22 PCP, mostly shooting sub-50 yards for squirrels/rats/plinking). I love the idea of a versatile optic that works great in low light with the built-in IR, and the compact rifle seems like a good match weight-wise. 
Most of my shots are at 40 yards and in, often much closer in the woods or around the property. I’m torn between the 3-12x and 5-20x versions. At close ranges, would the lower base magnification (3x) give me a better field of view and make scanning/tracking easier? Or is the extra reach of the 5-20x still worth it even if I rarely go beyond 40-50 yards? 
Also, debating whether to splurge for the R model with built-in laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator. For short-range airgun work, is the LRF/ballistics feature a game-changer (quick ranging + holdover), or is it overkill when most targets are under 40 yards and I can dial it in manually? Battery life, reliability in the field, and value for money are big factors too.
Has anyone run one of these on a similar compact PCP air rifle? Any pros/cons, mounting tips, real-world performance at close ranges, or alternatives I should consider? Pics/videos of your setups would be awesome!
