Home Server Proxy Help

Greetings,

I plan to set up a home server with an old laptop (a windows surface pro 7 with ubuntu installed), to serve as a proxy by using the residential IP while I'm overseas for a few months. However, I have 2 problems:

1). I don't have access to an ethernet cable. My router is a plug in the wall kind, and nowhere in my house is there an ethernet cable, nor does my laptop have a port for it. I know I can do it through WiFi, but I heard it's not that stable. Would it be okay for my purposes?

2). This is the bigger problem. I currently live with my parents, and they will be moving to another city while I'm overseas. The current house will he rented out, and so inevitably, they will have to being my setup with them. I'm quite sure this will mess everything up with the IP address especially. Is there anything I can do to make sure things run as usual, or will I have to teach my parents how to setup everything?

Please help, I'm quite new to this and have never dabbled in any other matter regarding electronics besides the surface level stuff that everyone knows. I really need this to work, and getting a commercially available VPS is not as desireable.

My first ever pet portrait!

I made my first ever pet portrait! It's of my mom's most beloved cat who passed away about 2 years ago. His ear got bitten off by a rat when he was a kitten. I feel like he's a but goofy in some spots, but I'm unsure what (aside from those eyes being too big, haha), so if any of you have feedback and advice, I'd love to hear it :)

First time painting a scenery!

I'm a beginner in watercolor. I've only done 4 paintings before this one, and those were portraits and paintings of fairies. I've always been so intimidated with painting sceneries for some reason, but I decided to finally give it a go.

I'm quite satisfied with my first attempt! Now I'm quite excited to paint more sceneries and nature. I might attempt flowers next, but I'm so intimidated with that too, even more than I'm intimidated with sceneries. Anyone got tips on how to tackle botanical subjects?

Supplies used: The Langton Prestige paper, White Nights watercolors, and some random Daler Rowney brushes I got. Painting size is approximately 10.5×10.5 cm

I don't feel at home in my own country.

I've always been mistaken as a foreigner or a mixed race person ever since I was little. The most frequent question people ask me is "where are you from?" and "can you speak [local language]?" Growing up, people thought my mom was my maid/nanny because they assume I'm of foreign lineage.

As an adult, it's still the same. Service staff would immediately speak to me in English, while they would speak the local language with my friends or family.

Even culturally, I feel quite alien. I don't really have a taste for the local food, and I often have a hard time communicating with locals. I tend to be a very direct communicator, and that comes off as rude/mean/offensive because people prefer to be indirect. I cannot communicate in such a manner because it makes me feel like someone who's constantly saying "yesn't."

I seriously don't feel at home, or even feel like I belong to the country and culture I'm born into, and whenever I talk about this, people call me disrespectful of my country and culture. I mean, I don't deny where I come from. I just don't feel a connection to the country or the culture. Part of it is because I've been told ever since I was a toddler that I'm foreign, and part of it is just because my personality and identity don't match up with the culture I'm born into.

I'm tired of being thought of as a foreigner, being called rude when I don't want to sugarcoat myself, and just feeling overall alienated. It's such a weird feeling, I don't even know what to do about it. Oh, and to top it all off, to those who know that I'm a local, I'm still considered as the weird one and not "one of them," so... yeah.
