Not a great sign that there is a shortage of vests at my hospital because they haven't purchased new ones

There was a stabbing at the end of the last year that resulted in the realization that the protective vests they had aren't enough (officer got stabbed in the leg while two officers took slashes across their vest, old vest was just kevlar), as a result of this they haven't purchased any new ones while they search for a new one with stab protection. I just finished my third week of training and am now moving onto field training, when I inquired as to the status of picking up my vest and additional uniforms(supplier still hasn't delivered those) I was told that they have not placed the order for new vests and that it will be approximately 45 days for delivery.

So now I had to shell out $700 for a vest because I would rather have it then not since getting knives pulled isn't as uncommon as we would like because of all the homeless shelters around the hospital. Great benefits and the best paying hospital in the area (there are a lot of hospitals in the area each with their own public safety department and the prevailing wage isn't that much above an unarmed contract guard) but still.

The MBTA told Boston officials it wants to close a major street for World Cup traffic. The city is fighting back.

tl;dr MBTA has informed the city that It's going to take a very small sliver of summer street next to south station during the world cup and close it for public safety. City does not like this and is big mad.

City would rather drivers risk hitting someone then be inconvenienced by a street closure

Today was OC Spray day

Hospital public Safety department. Week 2 of training was dt training, and today was the day we got sprayed by oc followed by defensive baton blocking and then handcuffing the "attacker". I have never been in so much pain and it was only about 48 seconds long. It's been a few hours and I am still exhausted and my eyes still string. Showered but that didn't help

Never want to do that again

After nearly a month of following up follow-ups I got myself a new job at another hospital then the one I am working at. However my report date for the new job Monday morning so I went ahead and quit my job yesterday, still under 90 days , through the only way I knew how to contact the account managers, through whentowork messages since they don't mingle with mere officers (they are basically boogiemen, no one below the sgt and LT has met them). I have not heard anything from them and my schedule has not changed.

So no doubt I will be considered a no call no show tonight which is more an annoyance than any serious impediment since Im quitting but still irks me and shows just how incompetent this place is and why I am done with contract security
