If cap space could be banked or carried over....
I feel like the Flyers wouldn't do much this off season... But you can't do that.
Running it back with a better back up goalie, seeing which young players take a step, and waiting to spend our new found cap space till a better FA market emerges next season would probably be ok....but they pretty much need to do something.
I'm not asking for specifics, but what category of move would be your guess?
A: a lateral trade with players moving both ways.
B: a trade where we incur more salary to lessen what is given up, on a shorter contract.
C: RFA offer sheet.
D: UFA signing.
E: wait till the trade deadline.
F: Big trade for a marquee player.
(Hope I hit all the categories)
Obviously they could move draft picks around as well, but that doesn't answer where the available cap space goes this season.
My guess would be B...and specifically someone that hasn't been on the rumor radar.
Most of the Nurse discussion seems to revolve around how much salary EDM would retain...but they need to dump cap and the Flyers can afford to take on money...I just wish Nurse's contract ended a year earlier looking at the timing of our picks/existing contracts.
My second guess would be D. (for Carlson) @ 2 years he would solve the PP QB situation, and the money exists for the next two years.
I know I mentioned Carlson and Nurse, but again I don't want to see the thread get into "oh i don't like this player!" "oh I do like this player!"
After signing our RFA, and extending Vladar there will simply be too much money to not make some kind of move, what's your guess?
