With shrinkflation in mind, why does it also include supermarket fruit?
I get the fact packets of biscuits of food items are getting smaller, but why is fruit getting smaller?
I used to get a pack of huge Gala or pink lady apples, but the fruit itself has got a lot smaller.
Surely they pickers still only pick them when they're fully grown and ready and it doesnt cost the retail sector more to let them grow to full size?
Nature doesn't subscribe to shrinkflation does it?
Sure I get that the price could increase to cover costs but why is my fruit getting smaller?
Maybe someone could educate me.
Edit * this seems to be a permanent thing in my local, not just seasonal.
