India have withdrawn from the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, opting to prioritise their high-profile international friendly against five-time world champions Brazil in October, All India Football Federation (AIFF) deputy secretary general M Satyanarayanan said on Thursday. India's withdrawal from the upcoming tournament also means they will miss the opportunity to face some of Southeast Asia's leading sides in a FIFA-sanctioned competition.

Former Indian cricket team spinner R Ashwin believes that England's World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan can replace Stephen Fleming as the Chennai Super Kings head coach. Indian Super League champions East Bengal completed a sensational comeback to win 4-1 (a.e.t.) against Kuwaiti giants Al-Arabi SC, in their crucial AFC Champions League Two preliminary knockout match in Kolkata on Wednesday. East Bengal went 1-0 down in the 76th-minute, conceding a penalty goal. However, they scored a dramatic equaliser in the 90th minute, thanks to a brilliant header from left-back Jay Gupta. In extra time, midfielder Mohammed Bassim Rashid slammed a sensational volley to give East Bengal the lead in the 108th minute. David Lalhlansanga Hmar and Rohit Danu also scored a goal each in the late minutes to cap off a brilliant 4-1 win for the hosts. The victory sees East Bengal secure qualification to the main group stage of the 2026-27 AFC Champions League Two.
