As title suggests, the bookkeeper was terminated without notice. Client wanted to use friend as new bookkeeper. This change was not due to errors or any malpractice/nefarious reasons.

Client owes bookkeeper significant amount of money and is considering not paying.

Bookkeeper withholding accounting software access until paid in full.

Who is in the right?

Edit: Bookkeeper is owner/subscriber of cloud based accounting platform. Bookkeeper providing pdf and excel reports but will not provide accounting platform access until paid in full.
