To my one and only:
You have been with me through so many years, and through it all, you’ve been nothing but supportive, kind, loving, and true to us. We’ve gone from being mere passersby in each other’s lives to chasing the sun together until daybreak, wondering 'what were we thinking?' You stayed by me through 4 AM rants when I was lost, without direction, and ready to quit; you kept me aligned and moving forward.
I knew from our very first night that you were the person I needed beside me forever. You complete me, and you helped me mend myself when all hope seemed lost. You are the greatest inspiration of my life. As we take these steps toward our future—and as I’m sure you’re thinking, 'it took you long enough'—I want you to know that my heart, my soul, and my entire being are dedicated to you, just as they have always been.
From this day forward, I vow to be your safe space and your shelter from the world. I promise to lift you up when you need the strength to rise, and to comfort you through every moment of grief or sadness. I will be the one to hold you, reminding you that it is okay to be vulnerable and okay to be scared. I promise to push you to be even better than you were yesterday, and I vow to never let you feel left behind or lost. I will be your voice of clarity when things seem to be falling apart.
With the sun above us and the earth beneath our feet, I vow to love you with all that I am. I will cherish you and never let you go. Until we are both just stories passed down by word of mouth, and even long after our fire has burned out, I will be here for you. Forever and always, my heart is yours.
