FaMI vs Erzieherin Ausbildung — which is more realistic to actually get hired for non-EU?

Hi everyone, I'm a non-EU applicant (Indonesian, F/24) seriously considering Ausbildung in Germany and would love honest input from people with real experience.

I'm torn between two paths:

Option 1: FaMI (Fachangestellte für Medien-und Informationsdienste)

Seems like a great fit given my background in cataloguing, metadata, and text analysis. Found a listing in Ratingen (Stadtbibliothek) last year. But I've heard public institutions can be conservative about hiring non-EU applicants.

Option 2: Erzieherin

I have teaching experience and genuinely enjoy working with children. Shortage seems critical. But I wonder if the emotional and physical demands are underestimated.

My main questions:

  1. As a non-EU applicant with German B2, how realistic is it to get hired for FaMI vs Erzieherin?

  2. Do public libraries/archives actually hire non-EU Azubis, or do they prefer locals?

  3. Is Erzieherin really as understaffed as people say — will they take anyone with B2 and relevant experience?

  4. Any honest review of day-to-day reality for either role that I should know before deciding?

Any insight from people who've been through either process, especially non-EU folks would mean a lot.

Thanks!
