THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GOING TO AUSBUILDING?

I know this is something I could easily search on Google, but nothing really compares to hearing from people with actual personal experience. I’d genuinely love to hear insights, tips, expectations, warnings, or anything you wish you knew beforehand from people who’ve gone through the process themselves. 🤔

If it matters my goal is to apply for Ausbildung in Nursing (Pflegefachfrau / Pflegefachmann)

Really appreciate anyone who takes the time to answer💞

What’s the real reality of Ausbildung in Germany for non-EU students?

Why is Ausbildung in Germany becoming so hyped among non-EU students recently?

Many people are choosing vocational training over a university degree. Is it actually worth it long term in terms of salary, career growth, PR chances, and work-life balance?

Also, how realistic is it to do Weiterbildung after Ausbildung, and does it actually help in career growth and salary increase?

Or is social media and agencies exaggerating it?

Would like to hear honest opinions from people currently doing or who already completed Ausbildung.

Helping people move to Germany for Ausbildung — is there real interest?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently close to finishing my Ausbildung in Germany (IT / Fachinformatiker), and I’ve been reflecting a lot on the whole journey recently.

I’m not originally from Germany myself, so I had to figure out everything on my own — moving here, dealing with bureaucracy, adapting to life in a new country, understanding how the Ausbildung system actually works, applications, interviews, integration, and everything around it.

Looking back, I realize how confusing and overwhelming this process can be when you’re starting from zero, especially if you’re coming from abroad and don’t really know where to begin.

Because of that, I thought it might be helpful to share my experience and maybe support people who are currently trying to follow a similar path.

Some of the topics I’ve personally gone through:

* how relocation to Germany works in practice

* what to prepare before moving

* what daily life / integration actually looks like

* how Ausbildung works beyond the official information

* finding Ausbildungsplätze

* CV / Bewerbung basics

* realistic German language expectations

* interviews / what companies actually look for

* general job search questions

Basically, the kind of things I wish someone had explained clearly to me when I was starting.

Would this kind of experience sharing / mentorship be useful for people here?

Indian Btech graduate looking into Ausbildung.

All about me -

Bachelor's in Tech - Computer Science & Engineering.

Started learning German - aiming to complete B1 by February 2027.

Looking forward to working in Germany cybersecurity market.

I have a few questions related to ausbildung -

i) Did your Btech get flagged as overqualification? How did you handle it in your cover letter?

ii) What German level did you do when you got selected?

Pakistani student planning IT Ausbildung in Germany — how realistic is this path and how long does it usually take?

Hey everyone. I’m a student from Karachi and I’m planning to move to Germany through the IT Ausbildung route because university abroad is too expensive for me. My plan is to complete my 12 years of education in Pakistan from a recognized college, while learning German seriously alongside my studies. After that, I want to apply for an IT Ausbildung, mainly in fields like software development or system integration.

I know this path is difficult for Pakistanis. There are visa delays, language barriers, financial issues, competition for contracts, and many companies prefer EU applicants. I also heard that getting interviews from outside Germany can take a long time unless your German level and CV are strong. Because of that, I’m trying to focus early on improving my communication skills, learning German properly, building technical skills, making projects, and creating a good GitHub/portfolio before applying.

What I want to know from people who already went through this path (especially Pakistanis or other non-EU applicants):

How long did it take you to get an Ausbildung contract?

What German level did you have when applying?

Did you apply from your home country or after going to Germany?

What were the hardest parts of the process?

Is this still realistic for someone without a lot of money?

I’d appreciate honest answers instead of sugarcoating. I want to know the real difficulties before investing years into this plan.

From Wertheim to Magdeburg Ausbildung chnage.

Hi, i started my ausbildung in Wertheim as kaufmann im Einzelhandel, but i got a new opportunity in Magdeburg in one of the companies and there are actually two Ausbildungs available now, one in Lebensmittel hand werk and the other as truck driver.

Regardless of which one i choose, can i shift from Wertheim to Magdeburg Ausbildung without any complications as i am still in probation period with Wertheim company?

Would the Ausländer Behörde question anything or make things difficult as to why i am changing it ? Or anything?

And also if i can do it, then what is the process to follow?

I would appreciate the answers.

Thank you

Which approach is faster - Azubi (16a) or Anerkennung ausländischer Qualifikationen (18b)?

Hi everyone!

I'm talking to 2 different people.

  • One said that Azubi is faster to acquire VISA, because with Anerkennung, you have to send original papers to Germany to get it to be qualified.
  • One said Anerkennung is faster to acquire VISA, because you don't have to wait until around August next year to receive your VISA because German Embassy waits until around August to give you the VISA because August is the time when Azubi schools in Germany start (there are March schools too but August schools have more possibilities). This person tells me to simply send her translated and notarized papers through online way, no need to send her original papers.

Please let me know which person is telling the truth.

Thank you!

Moving to Germany with the goal of starting an Ausbildung

Hi everyone,

I’m currently close to finishing my Ausbildung in Germany (IT / Fachinformatiker) and I’ve been thinking about something recently.

I’m not originally from Germany myself and went through the whole process on my own — moving here, dealing with bureaucracy, adapting to life in a new country, learning how the Ausbildung system actually works, applying, interviews, integration, and everything around it.

Looking back, I realize how confusing and overwhelming this whole journey can be when you’re starting from zero, especially if you’re coming from a CIS country and don’t really know where to begin.

Because of that, I thought maybe I could be useful to other people who are currently considering this path.

Not trying to sell anything — genuinely just checking whether there’s interest.

I feel like I could realistically help with things like:

  • understanding how moving to Germany works
  • what to prepare before relocating
  • what everyday life / integration actually looks like
  • how Ausbildung works in reality (not just official theory)
  • finding Ausbildungsplätze
  • CV / Bewerbung basics
  • what German level you realistically need
  • interviews / expectations
  • general job search questions

Basically, the kind of things I wish someone had explained to me clearly when I was starting.

Would something like this actually be useful for people here?

I think I will fail my IHK exam in Baden-Württemberg. Need advice for my backup.

Hey everyone,

I just finished my 3-year Ausbildung (Fachkraft für Lebensmitteltechnik) in a meat factory. I am pretty sure I failed the final exam.

Why I’m struggling:

The Exam: The Baden-Württemberg IHK paper requires heavy writing (no multiple-choice). Even Germans struggle with it.

Language: I work in a small village and my co-workers are foreigners, so my German didn't improve enough for a written exam.

Physical Toll: The job involves lifting very heavy weights. I am completely burnt out.

I can try a second time, but I am afraid I will fail again due to the language barrier.

My Questions:

Any tips to pass these open-ended IHK written exams?

What other food industry jobs can I do without an IHK certificate?

Thank you!

Failed 3rd attempt of Ausbildung, but hold a recognized Indian Bachelor’s degree (Anabin H+). What are my next steps to change visas?

I am an Indian national currently living in Germany. Unfortunately, I have just failed my final retake exam for my Ausbildung, meaning my contract is officially over and I am "endgültig nicht bestanden" (definitively failed).

However, I have a major safety net: I hold a Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) in Food Processing Technology from a recognized Indian university (Bharathiar University, which has an H+ status on Anabin).

Given the updates to the Skilled Immigration Act (Fachkräfteeinwanderungsgesetz), I know I am technically allowed to work any qualified job now. I am looking to pivot into a regular full-time position as a Maschinen- und Anlagenführer (Machine & Plant Operator), production specialist, or apply for a completely different, shorter 2-year Ausbildung.

What is the safest way to approach the Ausländerbehörde right now to bridge my visa? Should I register immediately with the Agentur für Arbeit tomorrow morning, or apply for an Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte) to secure a 12-month buffer? Any advice from someone who transitioned from a failed Ausbildung to a skilled worker visa using a foreign degree would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Österreich ruft... wer hätte Bock? 👀

Got hired directly as Mitarbeiter instead of Azubi. Is there a chance of scam?

Hallo zusammen!

I'm a foreigner (not living in Deutschland at the moment) looking for a chance to work in Germany as Azubi. I have a B1 ÖSD Zertifikat (trying to get B2 next month) and C1 English TOEIC.

I met someone who is living in Germany who agreed to help me become an Azubi. After 2 days, they found for me a Restaurant where the owner said I'm accepted to work as Mitarbeiter Kellner. The owner is allegedly friend with my person. The person sent me the location in Google and it seems legit - more than 400 reviews, close to five stars. The owner accepted me just by looking at my documents.

As part of a whole, I will pay this person an amount of money after I receive the contract from the company.

Is there a chance of scam? What should I do and what should I know? What should I subtly ask my person to know if I'm being scammed?

Thank you!

Ausbildung from Turkey

Hi everyone,

I'm a 20-year-old from Turkiye with no German residency. I'm currently learning German and aiming for B2 level before applying. I'm also willing to reach C1 if necessary.

My first choice is Mechatroniker (general/industrial), but I'm also open to CNC operator or Elektrotechniker as alternatives.

I came across a post here where someone mentioned Mechatroniker is highly sought after by German employers. However, some YouTube career advisors I watched said there are plenty of open positions in this field. Now I'm getting mixed signals and feeling a bit uncertain.

My questions:

What are my realistic chances of getting an Ausbildung in Germany coming from Turkey with B2 German?

Is Mechatroniker really in demand, or is competition too high for foreign applicants?

Would CNC operator or Electrician be easier to get accepted?

Any tips for someone in my situation?

Thanks in advance🙏

Volunteering or Ausbildung

I recently passed my B2 exam and also took the C1 test (still waiting for the results), and now I’m trying to decide my future plans in Germany. My main goal is to do an Ausbildung later, but before that I’ve been thinking seriously about volunteering in Germany.

I honestly feel like it could be a good step for me because I really want more real-life experience, improve my German, and grow as a person. I also have different skills in tech, design, and other fields, so I feel motivated to contribute and not just “stay there doing nothing”.

But as an Ausländer, I’m wondering if this is actually a smart plan or if I’m being too optimistic. Does the embassy usually accept this kind of path if I can financially support myself and bring enough money with me?

And after volunteering, would it realistically help me find an Ausbildung opportunity later?

I’d really appreciate honest advice from people who already went through something similar. Germany has honestly become a dream for me, and I’m trying to build my future step by step without making the wrong decision.

Questions

Hallo everyone!
I am a Pakistani student looking to apply for an Ausbildung (Fachinformatiker Systemintegration) for the 2026 intake. I wanted to get a realistic assessment of my chances as a non-EU applicant.
My Profile:
Education: 10th Grade (Matric) with a score of 82%.
Certification: Already Cybersecurity certified (CompTIA/Cisco).
Language: Currently at A2, aiming for B1/B2 by the time I apply.
Experience: Have some practical knowledge in networking and system security.
Questions:

  1. Is my 10th-grade score competitive enough for IT given my certifications?
  2. Are there specific regions in Germany that are more open to international IT apprentices?
  3. Should I mention my cybersecurity background as a primary selling point in my "Anschreiben"?
I am prepared to cover my own living costs if the stipend is low. Any advice from people who made it from outside the EU would be amazing!

Ausbildung program in Germany

Hey,

Does anyone here know about the Ausbildung program done by studyingermany.lk? I’m planning to apply through them, so I wanted to know whether they are trustworthy or not.

How is their process? Are they genuinely helpful, or are they like some other agencies that only try to make money and later blame the student if the visa gets rejected, saying things like “it’s your fault, not ours” after spending a lot of money?

If anyone has experience with them, please share your honest feedback...
