Non-EU applicant feeling stuck after constant rejections – Need advice on Duales Studium / Ausbildung

Hey everyone,

I'm a 25-year-old from Morocco and could really use some perspective or advice from people who’ve been through this process.

Back in 2020, I got my High School Diploma (Bac scientifique - SVT) with an average that translates to about 3.5 in the German system (11.54/20 in our grading scale), though I scored 16/20 specifically in Biology/Geology.

After school, I enrolled in a Biology degree at a recognized university (H+ on Anabin). I completed 3 semesters, but ended up missing the passing threshold by just 0.3 points. Honestly, my grades in core subjects like Cell Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, and Chemistry were good to excellent, but one or two tough modules dragged my whole average down.

I decided to step back and re-evaluate things. Over the next two years, I worked as a private tutor, teaching High School students (English & SVT) and university students (Ecology, Histology, Structural Chemistry).

About a year and a half ago, I decided to aim for a fresh start in Germany. I’ve been studying hard and I’m taking my ÖSD B2 exam this September.

For the last 4 months, I’ve been applying from Morocco for Duales Studium and Ausbildung programs (mainly Pharmakant, Biologielaborant, Chemielaborant, MTLA, etc.). But so far, it’s just been rejection after rejection, and it’s starting to get really disheartening.

My situation & goals:

Fields of interest: Biotechnology and Medizinisch-technische in Duales Studium

Biologielaborant/ Chemielaborant in Ausbildung

Financial reality: A regular university degree isn't realistic for me right now because I can't afford the €11k/year blocked account. That’s why Duales Studium or an Ausbildung is my only viable route financially.

Long-term goal: I don't want to stop at vocational training, i really want to go all the way to a Master’s and eventually a PhD in the future.

Landing a Duales Studium or Ausbildung from outside the EU with a stumble in my university history is proving to be a massive hurdle. At 25, the constant rejections are starting to make me feel completely overwhelmed.

Has anyone with a similar background managed to pull this off? What practical changes should I make to my approach, or are there alternative paths I’m missing that fit my goals and budget?

Thanks a lot for reading!

Streak 2: Keine Ideen?

Hallo zusammen,

Preparing for the ÖSD ZB2 exam in 50 days – Tips & looking for a study partner!

Hi guys,

I have my ÖSD ZB2 exam in exactly 50 days. I was originally preparing for the Goethe exam, but because of high demand, I couldn't book a spot. So, without overthinking it, I booked the ÖSD instead. If anyone has good tips on how to prepare effectively for it in this timeframe, please let me know!

For some reason, I find the ÖSD a bit easier than Goethe. Here are my personal notes on the different sections so far:

Sprechen: I actually find this part better than Goethe. In Goethe, the pressure of talking for the whole 6 minutes stressed me out. Even though the ÖSD has 3 parts, it somehow feels better and more manageable.

Schreiben: The time limit is really good (90 minutes), and writing around 120 words per part is also quite reasonable.

Lesen: This part is a bit tricky.

Hören: The sound quality is kind of bad, and the background noises usually annoy me, but since it's mostly daily life conversations, it is manageable.

Also, if anyone has an exam coming up like me and is interested, we can connect and practice together. (Right now, practice alone).
