I've saved up enough of my PTO at work that I can take a whole week off! With both weekends, that's 9 and a half day I got to myself. I plan to spend the most of those days hunkering down in my little home studio. I don't have much material planned except for instrumentation, which is not a bother to me. I really enjoy creating things in the moment and praying that I remembered to hit record.

I do have an overall concept I want for the sound of the project though. Sort of like Pink Floyd meets bluegrass. I have very organic sounding instruments, like harmonica, accordion, spoons, a drumset, all under very analog sounding, sometimes atmospheric synthesizers. With my trusty Squire P Bass to glue the whole thing together. I'm really excited to see what comes out of it.

To add a little extra challenge to the whole experience, I've decided that whatever I create in that time I am releasing as an album. Record and arrange everything in that week, the next week mix and master everything.

The reason I am doing this as well as the reason for this post? I have been struggling with a long time with finishing my tracks. I am sure some of you can relate. This "vacation" is my attempt to make a stop to that. A whole week where I just go for it. Finishing something, following through with it even if it's terrible. I'm sure there's going to be stuff that I make that I won't be a fan of by the end. Which is why I going to make as much music as humanly possible. Some may disagree with this statement but in this particular instance, quantity over quality. When you stop worrying about everything being perfect you allow yourself to embrace mistakes and take chances. As the quantity of your finished work increases the quality will get where you want it to be.

I just hope I'm right lol
