I need a Converse replacement that can endure a lot of daily footwork
Hello,
I’ll get straight to the point. I need a BIFL pair of shoes very badly. I generally wear Converse high tops all year round cause they’re so easy to move around in. I wear em daily to work and from there to the gym. The reason I wear em is predominately because they’re exquisitely comfortable lifting shoes. Also having high tops makes me feel less naked (don’t ask me to explain it, I dunno why I feel this way)
I’m looking at different options for extremely durable, high-top footwear. I’d love some recommendations. I’d prefer not to shill out an exorbitant chunk of cash on shoes. But if they last a minimum of four to five years, I’ll be pleased as punch. And if this follows, I’d also like something that doesn’t only mimic the structure, function, and versatility of Converse Chuck Taylors but also has a decent aesthetic too.
Thing is, I live in Sri Lanka where the weather alternates between extreme humidity, heat, and rainfall all year round. Add that to the constant wear from bouncing between a desk job, a minimum of 15K steps a day, and a pretty heavy work out, any pair of Converse I own tends to wear out within a year or so, if I’m lucky.
So far, I’ve noticed the ones that last the longest are Timberlands, Ariat Workhogs, Red Wings, Thorogood, Palladium boots. Could you guys help me figure out which options to consider/eliminate?
