The victim is Basavaraj, a native of Shahapur in Yadgir district. Based on his complaint, four people from Bihar have been taken into custody and are being questioned.
Case Details: Basavaraj has been living in the city for a few months, studying B.Ed, and working as a part-time food delivery boy. On August 8, around 4 AM in the morning, while he was finishing his delivery work and heading home near Sanjeevini Nagar, four young women allegedly saw him and verbally abused him in Hindi using offensive words. Basavaraj asked them why they were abusing him and stated that he did not know Hindi and asked them to speak in Kannada. At this point, the four young women, who were allegedly intoxicated, assaulted him. Immediately, Basavaraj called his friend Ashok to the spot, while the women also called two male friends to the location.
Middle Column (Pink Box - Top): Kicked with Feet by Young Women The young men who arrived at the spot kicked Basavaraj, who had fallen on the road, with their feet. The young women also kicked him with their feet when he fell. Basavaraj alleged in his complaint that they also hit his friend who arrived at the scene and injured him. Based on the complaint registered by Basavaraj, a case has been filed, and four people have been taken into custody for questioning. It is alleged that the women were under the influence of alcohol. Officials stated that an investigation is underway. The entire visual sequence of the incident has been captured on local CCTV cameras.
Right Column (Protest Details): Protest Under the Leadership of Praveen Shetty Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) activists, led by Praveen Shetty, gathered in front of the police station condemning the incident and demanded the arrest of the accused. Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Shetty condemned the assault on a young man who had come from Yadgir to the city to earn a living as a delivery boy. He stated that outsiders are repeatedly attacking Kannadigas. If such incidents recur, a large-scale agitation will be launched. He demanded that those who committed the assault must be arrested immediately.
