$1 Thrift Store find - is it real? Military Uniform ID help
Hello!
I was just given this sweater last night that my mother picked up for $1 from a thrift store ("I thought this would look nice on you!"...) and my immediate reaction/concern was 'Wait, is this someone's uniform?'
My sister and I did some internet sleuthing and came across a few bits of info which gave some insight, but no real clarity and just more guesses:
- Google Lens says "a British Commando Sweater, also widely known by its nickname, the 'Wooly Pully'"
- However, Google also indicates these types of sweaters were used by the USMC, as well as NATO.
- The print on the tag says:
JERSEY MAN'S HEAVY OLIVE ROUND NECK
V023 8405-95-137-8592
SIZE 112cm
CT2a/3131
The handwriting in marker on the tag says:
RGR CREIGHT-ON 0605
I am looking to identify it, as I think it would be a cool addition to my small military collection. Or, return it to the family if by chance was able to discern to whom it belonged.
If anyone recognizes such a piece, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much folks!
