What to do with the BMW Connected Cradle dock

I have just purchased a BMW r1250 GS.

The connected cradle.. it seems a massive waste it sitting there as a blank. To date I have been a quadlock google maps person.

What should I do with the cradle? How difficult is it to remove it in a way thats easy to put back? Thinking I could mount my quad lock there instead, any tips on how to do that?

Thanks,

Hi,

I am 38, and had my motorbike licence just over 1 year. I currently have a 2024 honda cb650r.

I'm tall, 6ft 3. I like the honda, but I find it a bit uncomfortable after 1 hour and it prevents me from doing any longer distance trips. That said, I have a new daughter and my opportunity to go on longer trips away is rather limited. Wife is worried that if I get a GS, i will just go off and never see her!

I would like to do JOGLE, but apart from that - its mostly just day trips on the odd weekend, and a run to a coffee shop.

I test rode a 1250 GS today, fantastic machine, comfortable and seems like a great all rounder. The larger size will take some getting used to though.

But my question is - is one overkill for what I want to do? Should I drop 13k on one of these, when my honda gets me to my local Cotswolds cafe?

Insurance, £360p/y on the honda, £870 p/y on the GS, is that normal? thats a lot of cappuccinos.

Help...
