I saw this film/TV show where characters are in a desert, they find a tree it may or may not have had pizza on the branches (that could be a hallucinations) but what I do know is that there is a creature in the sand that causes the characters to jump into the tree and throw bubblegum (I think) into its mouth which lets it leave.

I think the people in the desert/sand are pirates but it was from ages ago.

Any ideas?
